Blue skies and warm weather set the scene for the 2023 Essex Way Relay race on Sunday 3rd September. Springfield Striders entered eight teams across the ten stages of the 81 mile route, starting at Epping Station and finishing at the iconic Harwich Lighthouse. 76 Striders took part, meaning our club covered over 610 miles!
Our Men’s A team finished 7th overall, losing out to Grange Farm & Dunmow Runners, two Southend AC teams, Leigh on Sea RC, Billericay Striders and Benfleet RC. Our Ladies A team finished in 3rd position, behind Southend AC and Leigh on Sea and our VETS team finished in 2nd position, behind Leigh on Sea.

Thank you to everyone that ran on the day and to Robin & Isobel for organising stage seven of the event. Thank you also to David Rayner for his efforts on the day, to get to the start of every stage to hand out numbers etc and for running stage ten.
