Race Number and Chip Timing
The race will be chip timed, your race number and timing chip will be available on the morning of the race from the race headquarters, Pleshey Village Hall, from 8:30 onwards. Please allow yourself plenty of time. Your race number must be securely fastened to the front of your vest/T-shirt so it can be easily visible around the course and in the finish area. Please complete the details on the rear of the number; this is very important especially if you have any pre existing medical conditions. Your timing chip should be attached as instructed with the cable ties provided in your race pack.
Race Start – The race starts at 10:30am in The Street, Pleshey, around 200 meters from the village hall. Please arrive at the start in good time and keep off the main road by assembling in Back Lane until you are requested to line up behind the chip timing mats.
Venue – Pleshey Village Hall, The Street, Pleshey, CM3 1HA.
Parking and Facilities – There is ample parking behind the village hall, please follow the instructions of the car park marshals. Please do not park on the course or in the car parks of the village pub.
There are toilets and minimal changing facilities at the hall but no shower facilities. Refreshments will be available before and after the race. There will be no secure baggage store and any items left will be at your own risk. Please refrain from exiting from the car park until 12.30pm to ensure the safety of runners still finishing.
Course Description – The start is a short walk from the village hall down the hill towards the Leather Bottle pub. Please observe the start line marshals and congregate in Back Lane, not on the main road through the village. You will then be called to the start line. Please consider your finishing time when positioning yourself on the start line. There will be no formal road closures for the start. From the start the course goes back past the village hall in a large figure of eight through High Easter and Bishops Cross returning towards Pleshey to enter the village through Back Lane turning right up a slight hill to the finish on the village hall field. The majority of the course consists of winding, single track country roads so please keep to the left at all times unless directed otherwise by the marshals. Please make your way through the finishing area as quickly as possible depositing your chip timing device in the containers provided, marshals will be there to assist you.
Marshals and Water Stations – There will be marshals positioned at all road junctions and key points around the course, please obey their instructions. If you feel unwell or have any problems, make your way to a marshal station from where assistance will be sought to return you to the finishing area. Water Stations will be positioned approximately every three miles where bottled water will be provided with the tops removed. Please drop your used bottles at the side of the road where they can be collected by the marshals.
Following safety advice it is a condition of entry that runners MUST NOT wear headphones or earphones whilst running. Any runners seen using MP3/iPod players will be disqualified and will not feature in any results. This is not a traffic free course and this rule is for your safety.
