There was a double header of cross country this weekend starting on Saturday afternoon with an Essex League fixture which was hosted by Orion Harriers at Chingford. 6 ladies and 6 men made the trip to run around Epping Forest.
The ladies set off first and first lady home was Vic Curren in 30th, followed by Polly Bridgman in 35th, Isobel Gowers 52nd, Donna Hindle 55th, Elaine Tribley 70thand Charlotte Ball 94th. The ladies team were 6thon the day.
In the men’s race the first male Strider home was Paul Miles in 39th, followed by Luke Fitzjohn 50th, Paul Broome 85th, Chris Purse 111th, Tim Brockington 150thand Dennis Sherwood 209th.
Onto Sunday and there was a NESS fixture at the Suffolk Food Hall, near Ipswich. Four ladies, eight men and 4 juniors made the trip to run this race which involved a lot of running round grassy fields….
For the juniors, first Strider was Dylan Robins who was 10thand 1stin his age group (U11). Mia Bowring was 14thgirl, with Taylor Gooding 44thand Amelia Goodall 47th; all great results as in total 61 boys and 72 girls ran. The juniors are currently 7thin the league.
First lady Strider home in the senior race was Donna Hindle 45th, then Sharon bannister 63rd, Elaine Tribley 69thand Marisa Christie 77th, out of a total of 109 women running.
First male Strider was Antony Goodall in 32nd, then Luke Fitz-john 38th, Simon Bowring 61st, Gary Robins 76th, Jon Byford 87th, Tim Brockington 135th, Roger Gooding 146thand Richard Taylor 151st.
These results put Stridersjoint 3rdin the league with Witham, with two fixtures remaining.
