Prizes at Ingatestone

The 32nd running of the Ingatestone 5 took place on a dry Sunday morning and started from the Anglo-European school. Only 8 Striders took part, with 6 of the 8 winning prizes!

The race was won by Crispian Bloomfield of Billericay in 26.42, but Springfield’s James Smith ran 27.57 to come in third. Together with Stuart Raven and Chris Sewell the men claimed third male team.

First lady was the returning to racing Liz Davies in a great 29.29. Rebecca Pittman was first v45 lady in 36.03 and together with Anna Luff, the ladies scooped first female team.

On Sunday there was also the Generals Round Trail race from the Generals Arms in Little Baddow, organised by Katy Rehal from Mid Essex casuals. There was a choice of 8.5 or 6.4 miles, which included a sting in the tail and fun in the woods. The ladies did well with Nikki Brockbank 2nd, Sharon Bannister 3rd and Janet Hill 4th in the 8 mile race. The men did even better with Antony Goodall 1st, Gavin Allen 2nd and Gary Chandler 3rd. In the ladies 6 mile, Allison Gillan was third and for the men Robert Rodie was also third.

Paul Bridges did another couple of marathons: marathon #146, the Roald Dahl challenge at Samphire Hoe in 4.42, on a very hot Thursday. By contrast, he did the Kent Coyote marathon #147 on Sunday in 3.39 in cooler weather.
