Medal haul at Halstead
Seven Strider men and five Strider ladies ran the Halstead marathon on Sunday. This year it was a sunny and bright start for this undulating course around the country lanes of Essex; an altogether great race hosted by Halstead Road Runners.
First lady overall was Jackie Stretton in 3.05.40 and Jackie takes the Essex gold. Claire Towell took the v35 silver in 3.32.10. Together with Holly Thompson in 4.09.08, the ladies took the Ladies team Gold.
Pete Robinson was 1stmale Strider and 2ndman overall in 2.36.38, so took the Essex silver medal. With Alex Manton 2.49.45 and Paul Miles 2.59.55, the men took team Gold as well as the ladies.
Richard Rule won v50 silver in a time of 3.39.51.
Jon Byford, Alex Benson, Emily Penkett, Maria Christie and Mark Moughton also ran.
Well done Team Striders, great running.
Paul Jeggo and Stuart Raven went to Todmorden in Yorkshire for the Inter Countries Fell Running Champs to run as part of the Essex mens team picking up their first ever Essex Vest in the process. (And they didn’t come last!) Paul then ran the next day and won 1st V55 in another Fell race in Shropshire.
Also on Sunday was the castle trail at Stansted Mountfichet castle, where 20 Striders took part. 1stoverall and 1stmale was Antony Goodall. First Strider lady was Nichola Norman.
On Saturday some Striders did the Ipswich Twilight 5k; not exactly sure who but there were some great times and some PBs. Chris Burgoyne ran 15.21, Alex Manton 16.13, Antony Goodall 16.56, but there may have been others!
