Another fine day on the fells

Sunday saw Striders at 2 events on the hills. Nikki Brockbank and Jamie Woodyard took to the hills around Haworth for the Yorkshireman marathon & half marathon. Nikki took 20 minutes off her time from the previous year, finishing the marathon in 3h47m38s, just 40s behind the first lady home, 17th overall. Jamie was 63rd in the half in 2h16m29s, behind erstwhile Strider Jason Praill, 39th in 2h8m2s.

The Stretton Skyline has been a popular race for Striders for a few years, 30.5k with the 1357m of climb taking in the hills around Church Stretton - Pole Bank, Ragleth, Caer Caradoc & The Lawley, with a final climb back up to the Long Mynd ridge. Janet Hill & John Williams ran this year, Janet narrowly missing out on the F55 award, John holding off several locals from Mercia to bring home the bordeaux in the M60, 41st overall in 3h26m8s. A good day to be out on the hills.

There are a number of fell races in the coming months, of which there will be details on the chatboard. Particularly recommended are the 11k Breidden Hills on 13th October, Wrekin Wrecker (14k) on 17th November and Cardington Cracker (15k) on 1st December. There are also the Fell Relays in Llanberis on 20th October, and we need 1 more to complete the ladies team. If at all interested please speak to Janet Hill, Gary Wright or John Williams. It would be a shame to have to change the entry to a mixed team.
