Fell Calendar - 2013

The past 18 months has brought success for the fell runners, and an increasing profile on the fells, even if we meet occasional enquiries as to the location of Springfield (fell relays by a pair being overtaken by 2 of our runners). The coming year will again see a number of trips to the fells; almost certainly to those in bold font on the list below. The Midsummer Madness event in June is a particularly good weekend for anyone wanting to try the fells.

Many of the closer events, especially in Shropshire & Derbyshire, may be day trips.

CHAMPIONSHIP RULES

2012/2013 Championship concludes with the Shropshire weekend in March.

2013/2014 Championship starts with New Chew on 24th February

The format for the 2013/2014 championship will be unchanged and is as follows:-

5 races to count. 1 Long, 1 Short, 1 Medium,  any 2 other races (to be counted only after the first 3 have been completed), to be taken from those above, (with the exception of the Relay events,  Hadleigh Downs, and those marked (nc)),  and the best performance in the Lingwood Time Trial. In addition to the races listed above, any AL , BL or O race from the 2013 FRA Fell Calendar,may be used as the long counter on production of the appropriate results.

Scoring will be calculated as a proportion of the winner’s time.

POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FOR NOT WEARING CLUB COLOURS

1st offence, 10 points, doubling for each subsequent transgression.

 

WEEKEND TRIPS (Proposed)

*Midsummer Madness weekend. An ideal introduction to fell running.                                                                                                        **Brecon Fans Weekend. A couple of tough races in the Brecon Beacons                                                                                                              +The Billy Bland Challenge – A 5 leg relay round the Bob Graham Route, 66m, 28,000ft                                                                              ++Another weekend in the lakes for Dunnerdale / Copeland Chase                                                                                                                         Relays – Ian Hodgson Relay if there is sufficient interest.                                                                                                                                         The UKA Fell Relays are to be held in Llanberis in theNorth Wales. It is hoped to enter a number of teams.                                                        We will be entering the Gathering Winter Fools Relay if there is sufficient interest.
