Tristan Third at Mount Famine

Conditions were good for this, the latest in the Hayfield Fell Championships, and Tristan Windley continued his fine form on the fells, coming home 3rd in 46'. It would be interesting to see how close he would have come to eventual winner Simon Bailey of Mercia had he not lost a shoe in a bog on the steep descent from South Head. Also running were Jon Legge, 60th in 63' and John Williams, 72nd in 66'; both thoroughly enjoying the race, from the start, ascending 60m in the first 150m of the race, along the dragon's back ridge to ascend Mount Famine and South Head, descending steeply to Dimpus Clough before climbing back to the ridge at Mount famine to retrace steps back to Hayfield. Jon & John warmed down by running the gentler Bollington 3 Peaks fell race in the afternoon; gentler, but still 370m of climb in 9k, and value for money, with refreshments in the brewery following the race.
