Sarah wins Kinder Downfall

This is a classic fell race; 15k, with 600m of climb, up to and around the western edge of the Kinder Plateau, before an exhilarating descent back to the village of Hayfield. It is always oversubscribed, attracting a quality field of around 300 runners. All the more impressive that Sarah Colbert should win the Ladies race in a time of 1h29m08s - a performance as good as any by a Strider on the fells? Another to continue their fine form on the fells was Paul Jeggo, 32nd overall and 2nd V50 in 1h22m46s. Other Striders thoroughly enjoying their day on the fells, and buoyed by these results were Jon Legge, Lucy Neale, Tim Brockington, Andy Kettles, Malcolm Savage & John Williams; sadly Gary Wright succumbed to a worktop related hip injury on the first climb. Full results, and possibly photos will be at http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/

The next few months will see a number of visits to the hills, including:

Saturday 12th May - Mount Famine (am), Bollington 3 Peaks (pm, includes refreshments in the brewery)

Saturday 19th May - Shining Tor

Sunday 27th May - Surry Hills Races

There will be more details of these trips on the chatboard for anyone wanting to try fell running.
