Essex 20 medals

39 Striders in total braved the wet and windy conditions for the popular Essex 20 race held near to Colchester. This was also an Intercounty match and representing Essex were our own Paul Molyneux for the men and Sam Bilbie for the ladies. The 3 lap race started off in fairly heavy cold rain, so not the optimum conditions to start with but it did brighten up during later laps.

First Strider and representing Essex was Paul Molyneux in 1.50.53, which gave him Men open bronze. Together with James Smith (1.57.25) and Mark Newton (1.57.28), the strider men took the team Gold and took home the biggest trophy in the world (see Facebook!) Striders also won the men’s team silver - Pete Robinson 1.57.54, Alex Manton 2.01.58 and Tom Cammack 2.02.51.

Paul Molyneux and the Essex men’s team took Gold in the intercounty competition.

Sam Bilbie was the only Strider lady medal winner; she took open and v35 bronze in 2.22.16. Sam also took intercounty silver with her Essex team mates.

There were also several PBs from the race.

Well done to everyone who ran and braved the rain!
