Box Hill and XC

It was a cold and frosty Saturday morning for the Box Hill fell race in Surrey and temperatures probably were in the minuses. However, it was a beautifully sunny day and the views were apparently to die for. There were patches of thick frost on the course which made for fairly fast and firm going. There were 257 runners in total who completed the race.

First Strider was Stuart Raven in 31st with a time of 64.02. He was followed by Roger Gooding 75.57, Jon Byford 76.01, Gary Wright 76.22, Tim Brockington 83.06, Julian Catmull 84.44, Catherine Hull 90.43, Karen Chapman 91.06, Elaine Tribley 92.26, Alistair Gillan 99.14, and Sarah Knowles 130.48

It was another extremely cold and icy day for the next round of the 53-12 league cross country at Ipswich on Sunday. 11 men and 5 women braved the cold and some of these had tackled the notorious Box Hill the day before.

James Smith was first male Strider in 3rd and joining James on the scoring team were Alex Manton in 23rd, James Wright 31st, Stuart Raven 34th, Gary Robins 53rd, Jon Byford 82nd, Roger Gooding 87th and Gary Wright 88th. The men were 6th in Pool A on the day.
For the ladies, first Strider was Sam Bilbie in 5th, and with her on the scoring team were Allison Gillan in 43rd, Elaine Tribley in 65th and Vicki Robins in 77th. Sarah Knowles also ran and was placed 78th. The ladies were 5th on the day.

So that makes the combined teams 5th in the league with two more fixtures to go; ours on 29th at Writtle and Witham on 19th February.

The juniors were represented by Dylan Robins, Gaby Bilbie and Taylor Gooding, all in the U11 category. Dylan rocked the category by coming 1st in his age group and 21st overall. Gaby and Taylor also did really well in their age gourp with 5th and 9th respectively (45th and 78th overall). The juniors are 6th in the league.
