Chelmsford Marathon

The third Chelmsford marathon was held on Sunday on a bright and breezy morning. This followed the same undulating course as last year from the Shire Hall through the villages of Writtle, Roxwell,  Radley Green and Newney Green before turning back through the parks to Central Park. Several Striders took part and there were several Strider supporters along the route.

The first male Strider home, of the 20 men who ran,  was Sam Cornforth in 3rd place in an excellent 2.43, then Alex Manton in 10th in 2.52, followed by Antony Goodall in 2.56, making up the Strider sub 3 club for the event.

Kate Mills smashed the club ladies v45 marathon record in 3.16 and was first Strider lady. There was a long gap between ladies as there were only 4 running; the second Strider lady was Kelly Turk, who also smashed her PB, in 4.33, and third Strider lady was Lydia Mutimbanyoka in 4.41. Sarah Knowles completed the ladies in 4.57.

Well done to everyone who ran.
