Halstead Medal Haul

A scorching sunny day meant hard going for those running in the hot and hilly Halstead Marathon but Striders did not disappoint with an impressive medal haul. With 18 Striders of varying speeds taking part there was always a good chance of a medal or two. Some of the Strider runners had only done London a couple of weeks before.

The Strider men were led by James Smith in 4th in a great time of 2.55, and with Gavin Allen in 6th with 3.02 and Pete Robinson in 7th with 3.08, the men clinched the Essex County and the Halstead marathon Gold.

The men also won the County bronze with Stuart Raven 3.14 in 10th, Alex Manton 3.30 in 28th and Jon Byford 3.41 in 40th.

Other men’s medals included:

Gavin Allen – Essex v40 Silver and Halstead v40 Gold

Stuart Raven – Essex bronze v40 men

James Smith – Essex silver open men

The ladies did brilliantly too – First Strider lady was Donna Morris in 4.15, followed by Tracey Ranson in 4.18 and then Caroline Adlem in 4.48. These three ladies picked up the Gold ladies team for the County and for the Halstead marathon. Caroline also won the ladies v35 County bronze and Janet Hill the v55 County silver.

Well done Striders for an impressive haul on an extremely warm day.

Another Striders posse of 5 tackled the Colchester 10k in the heat. No medal winners here but Simon Miller was first Strider in 45.08.
